The transaction account is designed to meet your everyday banking needs. We offer six different currency accounts including NZD, USD, Offshore CNY, AUD, HKD and EUR which facilitate local and foreign currency transactions. Minimum balances may apply.
To open an account upon arrival in New Zealand we do need you to provide certain original documentation. This includes;
-Valid New Zealand or foreign passport with applicable visa.
- Proof of address such as, government agency letter, other local bank’s statements issued within the preceding 12 months or utility bills (such as water, gas, electricity bill) issued within the preceding 6 months.
We are also required to collect Tax data which includes, your NZ tax number and tax rate and if you are Chinese resident, a copy of Chinese ID Card.

- ICBC New Zealand Branch currently does not provide cash, cheque and ATM services.
- If the account holder is aged 13 years old or under, the parents or legal guardians are required to sign on the account application form by providing ID and proof of address information.
- No overdrafts are allowed.
