Dear Customer,
From today, the new Confirmation of Payee service is available to you in ICBC NZ Personal Internet Banking and Personal Mobile Banking. It checks if the account holder name matches the account number when you make a domestic payment or manage your payees. Here is what you need to know:
Paying someone or managing payees
When making a payment within New Zealand or managing your payees (excluding choosing from the public payee list), this new service will show if the account holder name and number are a match, partial match or not a match.
To get a match, you’ll need to use the payee’s full first and last name or business account name, along with the correct account number.
If you get a partial match, or not a match, check if you’ve entered the account holder name and number correctly. If you still don’t get a match, contact the person you’re paying to confirm their account details.
No matter the result you get, you can still go ahead. Please check the account details and make sure you know and trust the payee, as payments may not be recovered if they're sent to the wrong person or business.
Getting paid without delay
If you’re expecting a payment, make sure you give your account holder name along with the correct account number. Your account holder name is your legal first and last name that you used when you set up or updated your account. You can also check or copy your account holder name and number in Personal Internet Banking and Personal Mobile Banking by:
● Login into Personal Internet Banking, your account holder name is displayed on the top left, click My A/C ->Check Accounts->Account Enquiry to check or copy your account details.
● Login into Personal Mobile Banking, your account holder name is displayed on the top left, click Current & Savings, then click View to check or copy your account details.
We’re always here to help
Confirmation of Payee will help protect you from scams and reduce errors when making a payment, however, it won’t identify all mistakes or scam activities. Be wary of any emails or phone calls about this new service. ICBC NZ will never contact you by email or phone to ask you for your login details.
