Business sentiment in Germany has improved noticeably in February and the corresponding seasonally adjusted business climate index rose from 90.3 points in January to 92.4 points in February, the ifo Institute said on Monday.
Assessments of the current business situation were more positive in February, while pessimism regarding the coming months was markedly reduced, according to the monthly survey of 9,000 German companies conducted by the ifo Institute.
All four sectors of the index -- manufacturing, construction, trade and service -- rose in February. In manufacturing, the index jumped to its highest value since November 2018, the Munich-based institute noted in the survey.
"The German economy is proving robust despite the lockdown, especially thanks to strength in industry," commented Clemens Fuest, president of the institute.
