ICBC Sells Government Bonds for COVID-19 Control from June 19

ICBC sold two tranches of 2020 special bonds issued by the Ministry of Finance to individual and corporate customers on June 19. Customers can subscribe for these two tranches of special bonds through ICBC’s Internet banking or at domestic outlets. The available sale hours of Internet banking and outlets are from 10:00 a.m. To 16:30 p.m. on June 19. Customers may choose the subscription method during this special period.

It is reported that, the 2020 tranche I government bond for COVID-19 control is a 5-year fixed interest rate coupon bond with a par value of RMB100 and a coupon rate of 2.41%. The 2020 tranche II government bond for COVID-19 control is a 7-year fixed interest rate coupon bond with a par value of RMB100 and a coupon rate of 2.71%. The two tranches of government bonds for COVID-19 control are book-entry treasury bonds with an issue price of RMB100 par value; and the bonds subscribed by customers shall be an integral multiple of the par value. After the above bonds are listed on June 23, ICBC will continue to provide trading services through its Internet banking and outlets.

It is known that, in addition to the advantages of high security, stable yield, more liquidity, and lower investment transaction threshold shared by conventional over-the-counter bonds, the government bonds for COVID-19 control are also of positive significance in supporting pandemic prevention and control, as well as economic and social development.

Since ICBC launched the over-the-counter bond business in 2002, it has been sparing no efforts in supporting the regular distribution of over-the-counter government bonds. ICBC successfully subscribed three tranches of special government bonds, and provided trading services after the bonds were listed in 2007. It will continue to provide safe and convenient government bond investment and trading channels for the public as per the issuance arrangements of the Ministry of Finance.
